Just like natural teeth, dental implants are made up of two parts – one to replace the root and the other to replace the tooth or teeth.
The implant itself acts as the new tooth root; it is a medical-grade titanium screw that is surgically placed into your jawbone. It integrates with the bone, so it is a very strong and secure base for the new restoration to be placed on. We will create your new, highly aesthetic implant-retained dentures to fit perfectly onto your implants.
One of the problems that some denture wearers can experience, is that there is a lack of physical retention, or there is nothing left for the denture to hold on to.
This can cause problems such as your dentures slipping and moving when you speak or smile, clicking noises when you talk or eat, as well as difficulty eating. An ill-fitting and uncomfortable denture can cause many people to lose confidence in their smile, which is where implant-retained dentures can offer the perfect solution.
An implant-retained denture will mean that the denture is held firmly in place by two to four implants. The implants will be expertly placed by one of the dental implant surgeons in Edinburgh and the denture will be created by the clinical dental technicians (CDT) at Scottish Denture Clinic.
Although your denture will still be removable, it will be more secure than traditional dentures, providing you with an enhanced level of confidence every day.
